...probably some sort of warrior. I can't think of any other reason I'd be carrying this spear around, at least.



Does anyone out there want to show me around the important parts of town? I don't know where to get food, where to get a good drink... also some place called Room 404.

Well, just one. I'm sure you'll catch sight of him sooner or later.

He's hard to miss.

Oh, hey, it's a Peacock!

Joachim was right, he IS hard to miss, seeing as he's five feet tall, wearing expensive Chinese robes, and has striking white and red plumage.

He also appears to be carrying... cat toys? And he's coming the other way down the hall toward room 404. Well, then.

Oh, hey, it's a tiger! By which I mean a person who doesn't really look especially tiger-like. She's brought all her worldly belongings with her, which at this time means the clothes on her back, a spear, and some kind of important-looking religious artifact.

"He was right! A peacock really is hard to miss."

Well, Shen didn't appear to have much on him, either, when he first showed up. You never know, she might find garrote wires in her hair.

At any rate, he stops and blinks.

"We... usually are, yes. Who was right, may I ask?"

"Somebody. I didn't get his name." Shou gestures towards room 404 with her spear. "Are you here to visit my soon-to-be home?"

"Ah, well, yes, actually. I came here to bring these to Ran." He hefts the small collection of cat toys.

Still, he's a polite bird and will let Shou go in first. He steps back from the door to wait.

Shou accepts the gesture with a shallow bow, and knocks.

The woman that emerges would by herself not be too terribly distinctive were it not for the rather obvious set of nine tails, and that curious two-pronged hat she wears that occasionally twitches in a way to suggest an actual pair of ears under there.

"Ah, good evening Shen!" she says, nodding, then looks. "Oh! You must be Shou. I just finished tidying the place up, as a matter of fact."

"That's right! You must be the..." Shou eyes the host of tails. "...kitsune I talked to before. This peacock was already here when I arrived."

Giant tails are in this year, it seems.

"I... yes. I was just stopping by to bring you these..."

Oh, gods, he moans inwardly, now she thinks I'm stalking her....

"Oh my goodness! Are there for Orange? You're so generous! Oh, but how much do I owe?" she asks, looking at the toys.

To Shou, she adds, "Ah, yes, the cat's name is Orange. Still only has the one tail, of course, but I don't really expect much otherwise. I'm not sure this place would approve of the most expedient method of gaining that second tail anyway..."

He lets Shou step into the room and then hands over the cat toys to Ran. At her question, his gaze darts about the room and his feathers fluff a little. Is that... is that the avian equivalent of blushing?

"It's.. actually it's a gift." Smile?

Half out of politeness and half out of a vague curiosity about whats going on here, Shou steps back a bit to let the other two talk.

"O-oh my." She blushes a bit. "But I couldn't possibly -- ah, thank you." She accepts the box a little sheepishly, especially knowing what she does about the peacock's interest. "Would you like to step inside? I could make up some tea." She eyes Shou. "...or open a bottle of sake while I'm at it."

Odd, she doesn't even seem to bat an eye to the idea of serving alcohol to a minor.

"Maybe we're not so different after all!" Drawn in by the siren song of alcohol, Shou enters the suite, looking around a bit. The surroundings seem fairly luxurious; a nagging voice at the back of her head seems to suggest that she would be better off with less than this, but she ignores it. At least for now.

It's a bit early in the day for sake, at least to Shen's rather old-fashioned sensibilities. "Tea would be lovely, thank you."

He steps in carefully, looking to see if he can spot Orange anywhere nearby. Part of his mind is, indeed, curious. The other part... realises he's a bird and Orange is a cat.

Orange is currently sleeping in a little basket, so the bird is not sighted immediately. Ran, meanwhile, goes to fetch the refreshments. "Do make yourself at home. Shou, your room is the one down the hall to the right. I do trust you will do your share of the cleaning from time to time, however?"

She hums as she works. A roommate! How lovely.

"Sure, no problem." Shou takes a seat at a couch, still scoping out her new home. "So how do you two know each other?"

Reverse-articulated legs doth not a good relationship with standard furniture make. As a result, Shen usually just perches on things or sits on the floor, which he does now.

"Ah, well, we've... seen each other rather a lot... it's a rather close community in this building--has to be, after all, we're all amnesiacs." He repeatedly arranges his tail feathers while talking, trying to get comfortable.
