*The fox has been seen running around town again. It's not stealing anything, though, so a lot of it has just been amazement at seeing one at all, let alone one that large and with nine tails. A few of them have noted an odd, shining light hovering around it, and can SWEAR they heard a voice coming from it.

She's been especially spotted near the outskirts and the park, which is where you might see her yourself, enjoying the sunlight. And sure enough, there's a small white light nearby -- and it's speaking, somehow, in Ran's voice.*

{Ah, good afternoon. Are you here to enjoy the day as well?}

((OOC: Combining 3% from the green goop and 3% from Rayquaza for a whopping 6% back on her entire first 100 years as a fox. To be fair, there's not a lot of DETAIL to it.))

[Gordon had more or less figured a suspect on the giant nine-tailed talking fox was that everyone was referring to, but he didn't expect to see one of the actual four-legged variety. He slows on his run and stares. For a moment he glances between the fox and its luminescent companion, unsure which one to actually address.]

...Ran? Is that you?

*The fox yawns.*

{Yes, as a matter of fact. I cannot speak in this form, so I have kept a shikigami active so that I may speak through it. It just seems like a lovely day to be a fox, though.}

[He saunters closer, shifting to one leg to stretch out a hamstring. Most everyone has only seen him in slacks, jeans and turtlenecks. In mismatched shorts and a t-shirt it's obvious just how thin and wiry the man really is.]

I'll take your word for it; I think human's good enough for me. Is this a new thing for you? Or an old thing that you remembered how to do?

{To be honest, this was the form I arrived in. But I had such a pleasant set of memories come back from my early years that I felt an urge to revisit them.}

*The fox pants a bit like a dog happily.*

[...Aww. He chuckles and quietly wrestles down the urge that pops up to scratch her head; even out of context, the gesture probably wouldn't be received well.]

So... what kind of memories does a fox have?

{Simple ones. Food. Family. The need to stay away from humans. Certainly nothing along the level of higher beings.}

...doesn't sound like anything I'd want to revisit. But I guess... I guess it's like remembering being a kid. Memories are always nice and simple from back then too--and you know, minus the instinctual aversion to humans. Most kids don't have that.

[It isn't lost on him that the impulse to run away is probably back for her and she's totally ignoring it. He's a little impressed. He ambles around to give her some space under the pretense of keeping his heart rate up.]

{There's something freeing about being in this state as well. No concerns about modicums of civilization. It is nice to get away on occasion.}

[--Huh? That voice-

She's confused at first, looking around to try to find the speaker.]

What was that-?

{Oh, I do beg your pardon. Do not be afraid, dear. I am merely speaking to you through my shikigami.}

*The fox nudges its head a bit, and the shikigami floats in front of Marona.*

Whoa!

[She jumps a little, her eyes finally focusing on the fox.]

...That voice... is that you speaking?

*The tails wag a bit; it's a bit dog-like, but at least it's encouraging.*

{Indeed. My apologies. I would speak to you in a more humanoid form, but I have taken this one up for the time being and to change back now would be... improper.}

*Translated: She'd be ~~suppa-tenko~~ naked.*

[Huuuuuh... She crouches down with her hands on her knees so she's on the same level as Ran.]

Wow! So you can change forms?

{Indeed. It is much more convenient for working with humans, I assure you.

I do not believe we have met, child. May I ask your name?}

My name is Marona! I have only been here for... a little less than two weeks, I think.

{I see. You poor dear. It must all still be quite overwhelming for you, yes?}

A little, but... Everyone's been so helpful. I think I'm starting to get used to it.

{That's good to hear! One must be adaptable in strange situations such as this. Let me know if you have any problems, though, and I'll do what I can to help!

Ah, but I should give my name as well. I am Ran. I... feel as if I have a last name, but I do not remember it, I am afraid.}
