I stumbled onto some magic scrolls during a recent scouring and thought I'd let you fellows know. Those of you with magical skill or the ability to do some trickery can use these to cast spells without draining your energy.

I'll be doing some research in the library if anyone needs me.

Also... I seem to have remember owning a Herbal shop in a place called Mordent, does that ring any bells for someone?

[Rudolph can be seen hunched over a nasty-looking dagger he picked up at where the Oni are now sealed. The dagger has a deep groove on both sides of the blade with rusted splotches that looks uncomfortably like dried blood.

The man himself is holding up a strange scroll with that draconic lettering that is shifting to a more common language, written in a manner so the words form a question mark on the paper. After a quick scan, he recites the words, pressing his fingers against the sheet in a peculiar pattern. Suddenly the page crumbles as both the dagger and the man's eyes glowed briefly with an oscillating gray light]

While Rudolph is in said library, he may eventually become aware of the sound of someone flipping through books. Rather a lot of books. Occasionally that someone can be heard muttering under his breath.

"No, no no no, that can't be right," the voice mutters. It continues to grumble something about the Han dynasty and just how long was it anyway, and humans and their bizarre history books....

Closer inspection will reveal Shen of all people, surrounded by a multitude of history texts. He looks rather perturbed and will most likely explain why to anyone who asks.

"What is it?" Rudolph stood up, sliding the dagger into his bag with a book before he slinks over to see what the man is muttering about.

Shen looks up at his approach. "Hm? I'm not disturbing you, am I?"

He looks back down at the books. "I've been looking over these history books ever since someone intimated that I come from... the fifth century...."

"The fifth century... so it seems time is no barrier as to where and when we're taken from." Rudolph murmur to himself. "You weren't disturbing me, I just finished up my research here."

"I suppose it isn't... the question now becomes, how could I find a way back home, to the... time that I'm from?" He flicks a few pages of the nearest book and then flips it shut with a sigh. "I highly doubt these gods will be so accomodating as to send me back."

That's a good thing - I've been researching the Fauna here. Oh - word of advice, when speaking magic users, try not to be openly skeptical, I found in my experience they tend to be extremely tetchy about those who doubt their power.

A scroll of Identify.

It can detect specific enchantments on anything, including a brief history - usually only mages can use these, but there's a way to trick them.

And I would suggest not touch the dagger.

It's cursed - it'll stay stuck to one's hand until the wielder commits an act of violence.

S-seriously? What are the odds that the one weapon you got out of that placed ended up being cursed? More importantly, how do curses even work? I mean, scientifically they don't seem to have any basis as far as anybody knows, aside from the power of psychosomatic compulsion, but you seem to indicate this is very much a real thing.

It it is quite the foul luck. And as to how curses specifically work - I suspect the answer either lies with knowledge I have yet to gain, or that it would require an actual priest or mage to explain.
