(Our Planned Skit, Take 3) . The Air Up There

[The image that swims into view, if you're viewing, is a man's midsection. The man has a white t-shirt on and what looks to be an unbuttoned uniform shirt of some kind over it. There's a moment of muffled laughter as the camera adjusts to its subject's unusual orientation, and the field widens to reveal Keith. He's currently hovering in mid air, a blue glow outlining his body and shining in his already very blue eyes.
Sensing the camera has completed its adjustments, Keith runs a hand through his hair, which looks a little wind-blown, and tries not to grin so widely.]

Hello, everyone! Ah, I know I haven't seen some of you in a while. I've been working very hard at my job as an officer of the peace and spending time with a few new friends I've made here. I've been happy to hear about the things you've remembered, and I've remembered a few things myself. It's nice to know my full name-- Keith Goodman, it's nice to know that I like my eggs sunny-side-up, and it's nice to know that I seem to have some kind of power over the wind or the air! I mean, I can manipulate the wind to carry me-- if I want to, and I can fly, but not very fast, unless there's a high wind. I've been experimenting in an unpopulated area because I didn't want to frighten or injure anyone. But my control of the power is pretty fine. I can also direct the wind with gestures.
[At this point, Keith settles, feet on the ground. The blue glow diminishes.]

It's great being able to fly, of course! But I don't really know what I actually do with this power when I'm at home. I don't have any memory of that yet. I hope I remember that soon. In the meantime, now that you all know, you won't be surprised to see me in the air when I'm not on duty. Although I am going to talk to the Sergeant and ask if I can use my power on patrol. I think it might be useful!

Hello, Keith. [Yuri takes a moment to take in all this. Now that he's beginning to remember how to use his power, he no longer glows when using it as he had at first. Perhaps because of his control, or perhaps because of the nature of his power, he isn't sure.

So, is Keith a NEXT, from his world? He isn't entirely sure; such things might be constant between worlds. He doesn't remember the name, but that means nothing at this point.]

That's quite an impressive talent. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out a way to use it in the service of the common good.

A-AH! That's -- oi, Keith! That's a NEXT power! We must be from the same place!

[...Well, it's more than he's remembered. "Barnaby Brooks Junior" is a nice name, and he's relieved that there's no "Bunny" in it anywhere, but there's still so much that he doesn't know.

Shame, he'd rather like to know why he doesn't feel so surprised when he sees this.]

Good to know you've at least remembered that much. It's a rather impressive ability.

Hi, Yuri. I'm glad you think so too, I've been trying to think of ways to do just that!

I meant I'm glad you were thinking I'd figure out a way to use it to help people, not that you were thinking that I was thinking that it was impressive. But, thank you!

It would be great if we really were from the same place-- if I could remember that, that is.

I would like to help people with my power in some way, of course-- but I do enjoy using it. It feels incredibly natural, as if I belonged in the air.

Thank you, Yomiko! It's strange to think I could do this all along, but just didn't remember that I could, or how to do it. I do wonder what I did with my power back home, but here I'll try to make it useful.

Um... what is it like to be able to fly? Can you describe it?

If you can control the very air, I'm sure you'll be able to use your ability when apprehending criminals--if you believe your control is fine enough for you to be sure of not injuring suspects.

It's... hang on a sec, gotta remember what that stands -- ah, yeah! a Noted Entity with eXtraordinary Talents! Or something. The full name sounds kind of dumb, actually. Point is, though, that glow is totally how you know you have that sort of power!

Now that's a neat trick!

Yes, I think it is. Though I do want to practice, just to be sure of myself-- and because I like it. It feels so natural, Yuri! It's hard to describe. I wish I could really tell you what it feels like to fly, and have you really feel it...

I wouldn't ever want to hurt anyone with my power, that's for sure. Not even if they were a criminal. Or a suspect.
I hope they'll clear me to use my power in the field soon!

Oh, okay! THat does sound unnecessarily complicated-- NEXT sounds a lot better. I wondered where the glow came from! Do you have it every time you use your power?

Keith considers this question, which takes a moment.]
Well, you seem like a really together guy-- and you're really fashionable, I guess. How about working at a shop? But I know you like to work out, too-- so I would say to try the gym, but that doesn't seem right either...

You seem like you should be someone who makes a lot of speeches, or who might be comfortable making speeches-- maybe you could get a job doing some kind of presentation? Like on video?

[Keith laughs, seeming embarrassed.] I don't think that helped very much!

It feels completely natural, like I belong in the air-- it'd kind of hard to describe, Yomiko.
If you want, after I take a little more time to really master my power, I could take you up-- you could find out first hand!

Yep! I guess that's just how it works for us! Kind of obvious, but I guess if you're wearing the right sort of equipment you can't see it.

Equipment? I'm not really sure what I do with my power back home-- so I don't know what kind of equipment I'd wear. Do you mean like the mask you made?

I wouldn't mind at all, Yomiko. It would be my pleasure. I think anyone who can fly would want anyone who can't to feel what it's like.

I don't think I know who "Batman" and "Superman" are-- or at least I don't think I do?

[Booster thinks his part in this conversation is perfectly sensible and logical. So yeah Keith's pretty accurate in that estimation.]

They're only the most important superheroes to have ever existed! Superman was always about, you know, truth, justice, and the American way and all that kind of stuff, while Batman's more of the brooding loner, strike fear into the hearts of criminals type.

Oh! No, I've never heard of them, but "Superman" sounds like a great hero. Though striking fear into the hearts of criminals isn't a bad thing, if it helps reduce crime.
[Serious nodding.]

They're both great heroes. It's not like there's only one "right" way to fight crime, y'know?
