[ACTION; PRIVATE]
*He runs.
Something's chasing him. He can't see it in the darkness, but he can sense it. It's evil. It's malicious. And it's hunting him, and won't stop until it's caught him.
He continues running, the cold sweat running down his back, but in this dark void he can't figure out which way to go. Just when everything seems hopeless, he spots it: a closet, just ahead. Surely if he hides in there, he can wait out whatever is seeking him until it goes away. He dives towards it, throwing open the doors and leaping inside. He closes them and folds into himself.
'It can't find me here. Just a little longer. I just need to listen for it leaving and --'
A crack of light, then, in front of him. It widens as the doors open. And the last thing he sees...
...is this.*
[ACTION; HIROSHI AND PALOM'S APARTMENT]
GYARRR -- OOF!
*He gradually reorients himself. The process of thrashing in his sleep has caused him to fall off the couch, landing in the pile of books he'd been looking through before he'd gone to sleep. His breathing is ragged and tense, but slowly normalizes as he remembers where he is. The strange apartment isn't necessarily more FAMILIAR, but it's a far cry more welcoming than whatever he'd been dreaming about. Yet even without his glasses, he can still see that face in his mind's eye somehow...
This... isn't a memory, is it?
Of course not. Or if it is, it was just some silly movie he'd seen. Or... something. There's no way he could have seen anything like that where he came from. No way at all. His world is scientific, structured. Normal. That's why magic had scared him so much, right? Monsters can't exist in a world like that.
...he can't get himself back to sleep.*
((OOC: 1% regain remembering the Ao Oni, but not the entire circumstances of his familiarity with it. People who are night owls may see Hiroshi wandering around the complex with a bad case of insomnia in this post.))

Action
The door to Palom's room slowly opens as he wearily blinks in the darkness.]
What's going on? Why're you shouting? ...Is someone stealing my candy again?
[...He yawns. And holds out a fireball so he can actually see.]
Re: Action
Shouldn't you put that in some sort of non-flammable container or something? Having a big open flame like that indoors seems kind of dangerous.
*He reaches for his glasses.*

[Palom, of course, increases the power to his flame so the whole room is lit in a cheery glow.]

I'm not paying for the damages if this place goes up in flame, you know.
*He puts his glasses on, trying to act calm.*
I'm fine. It was... a dream. Yes. Just a bad dream.

[Palom seems to be slightly more amicable when he's tired, as he can't muster up the energy to be more than marginally bratty.]
no subject
Sorry. I barely remember the details of what it was anymore, anyway.
*Liar.*
Just go back to sleep. I'll... probably take a walk until I feel like I can sleep again myself.

It might also be a good time to get out in case something happens with that fireball. You DO know about electric lights, right?
no subject
[But just to be accommodating, Palom will turn off the fireball. ...And turn on a ball of flickering electricity.]
See, this is gonna set something on fire.

*Staring at the ball of electricity as blankly as he can, he reaches over and turns on the lamp.*
no subject
[There goes the electricity ball.]
No, that's kinda lame. I like being able to adjust my light how I want. ...Anyway, if you're gonna go back to bed, you should turn that off.

[That's a White Magic spell, but Hiroshi doesn't know that.]
