This feels slightly harder than I remember. Why is that...

Hearing about some of the Oni attacks, she decides to help scope out some buildings that people have suspected might be infested. So you might see her standing outside a department store, focusing on something unseen. That is, until she suddenly yelps and falls backwards, landing on those many, many tails.*

Ooof... I am fine, I suppose. But that is one less shikigami in my possession. I do not believe I needed to see the internal workings of one of those beasts...

Oh, my apologies... See, I remembered I am trained in the arts of the onmyouji. I can utilize my own shikigamis -- ah, familiars, of a sort, although the basic ones are more just enchanted pieces of paper. So I offered to use my abilities to check out suspicious buildings during this situation and... and the blasted thing just ATE it without a second thought. Brr.

Just like that! It sort of stared at it, and then chomp! Oh, I should hope never to have to see something like that again in all my days!

Well, it took me a moment to realize exactly what was happening. I can sever it whenever I need to, however.

It is. I've been here for months, and I only started seeing these creatures a couple of weeks ago.

[Gordon happens to be taking his lunch in the park at that moment, and he does a distinct double-take when he happens to look over to Ran. He openly stares as multiple levels of details play crash-test dummy with his sensibilities--clothes, ears, TAILS, floating dolls--one after the other.

[He suspiciously glances at the burger he'd been munching on, wondering exactly which chemical in it is making this all happen, and shoves it back into the bag.]

Ah, good afternoon. I was simply practicing the art of the onmyouji and attempting to control some shikigamis. But it feels like it requires more effort than I recall.

There's also the fact that they are nigh impervious to damage. My techniques could only stun them.

As I understand, there is someone who has remembered these creatures from his home. However, I don't know if he knows of any way to eliminate them.

The onmyouji are those dolls, right? Waitaminute... [He does a quick count. It's not easy because her tails tend to swish when she's concentrating.]

Are you a, uh... kitsu... oh man it's right there, uh... kitsune! Yeah! One of those nine-tailed foxes. I heard about them... somewhere.

That is interesting, however. These creatures came from his world, you say?

Why yes, I am! A very old one it seems, by the tail count, though I am afraid those years are rather wasted right now.

An onmyouji is, mmm... a sort of sorceror, I suppose. We can control shikigamis, or... familiars? Some of them can act as familiars, and others act more as simple tools. I can extend my will through these, but they can hardly act on their own.

You just recently got the memory back, I'm guessing. Wow... Now that is cool. I NEVER would've expected to see something like that around here. [To be fair, he didn't expect to be talking to a kitsune over his lunch break either.]

I just got here this week, and can't tell you for the life of me what I was doing before that. I thought all the amnesiacs running around were just carbon copies of Joe Everyman, y'know, with nothing particularly mythical about 'em! That's all I'd seen up until now. But if there are some with special abilities, then that changes everything.

[Part of him very briefly wonders with renewed curiosity about what HE lost along with his memory...]

From what I understand, there is quite the variety of individuals here, yes. This would not be a place to hold fast to a disbelief in the supernatural.

Besides, what they call the supernatural are just things that science hasn't confirmed anyway! Hell, electrons change their spin orientation via remote resonance all the time, so why not--

It would make sense. I am not terribly familiar with advanced human sciences myself, but what you just said sounds as though it would coorelate with them.

Advanced sciences.... Huh. Sounds like I've got a lab to go visit. I may as well grab a couple of animoi crystals before I do that, though; they're probably not even going to let me in without some to process.

Hmm. I suppose I'd best keep an eye out then. Not that I remember all too well the sorts of creatures that lurked back home, but I would imagine that if I myself am a youkai, then other youkai may have followed in my wake.

[He straightens in his seat, gesturing.] You know I AM really curious about that. How the hell do you extract memories from crystals you just find lying around? Are they encoded in? And if so, how can they possibly tailor that extraction to a single person? Or is it more of a deficiency in the brain or something that those crystals have? But then, when's the last time you saw someone get an injection of anemoi? How do they even--

[He cuts off in his rant, running a hand over his short-cropped head of hair.]

Yeah. Definitely going to check this stuff out. Uh... oh hey, I'm Gordon, by the way.

Yes. Though this type is disposable, non-sentient. They act more as a pure extension of my will than anything.
