Aliens +1

[Whoever is making this post seems to mainly be thinking out loud and talking very quickly.]

Alien planet, clearly. Inhabited primarily by humans. Not Earth, too sparsely populated, one of the Alliance colonies? Technology level all wrong. Retrograde amnesia also concerning. Perhaps dietary contaminants? No no no, too imprecise. Would be more endemic. Less total. No drugs I know that cause this reaction in Humans and Salarians. Must be active interference. Radiation surgery? Nanotech treatment? Other, more esoteric process? Either way, amnesia used as weapon, method of control. Must secure cure as quickly as possible. Also, matter of anemoi. No idea what they are. Memories encoded within? Not possible, anemoi exchangeable. Possibly some kind of drug. Treatment. Need to look into process for using them.

Hmm, possible there is a pattern to those afflicted with amnesia. Tell me, who else is effected?

*Aliens. Sure. Okay. At least that's firmly in the realm of SCIENCE fiction.*

Pretty much anybody currently staying at the hotels. It's a common situation.

Aside from being, as far as I can tell, from different worlds other than this one? Not a lot. There seems to be quite the biodiversity here.

I don't think so. It sounds like there was some sort of mass event sometime back that greatly reduced the population of this world. This city is all that's left as far as we know.
all_onis_are_true: (THIS IS ACTUALLY CANON)

[personal profile] all_onis_are_true 2012-03-25 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody seems to know. That's the weird thing.

Could be. It's pretty effective if it is. Most people just want to get their minds back in working order before they even think about figuring this place out better.

Don't make it too secondary. You might get some useful skills back.

"Ah... we all are. Well, all of us who live in this hotel. Unfortunately, none of us know what the anemoi are, exactly, either, though I hear Gordon's working on it..."

Huh. He's not fazed by a talking bird--Shen's not sure whether to be impressed or insulted. He chooses the former for now, as he's in a strangely charitable mood. Must be the pleasant weather.

"He's a human scientist working at the laboratory--well, since recently, anyway, when he remembered that he's a scientist."
trustycrowbar: (What..?)

[What the hell...? An alien, obviously, and a pretty damn smart one at that, but he didn't expect one to be THIS alien and hold a converation. Well... he seems helpful anyway.]

I guess the others can tell you about who the Exiles are in town. I've been working on the possibility of anemoi encoding from an quantum scale. I thought I may get somewhere with entanglement, but so far no dice. I didn't consider that it could be a broad-spectrum drug; it WOULD make sense though since the stuff precipitates in drops everywhere like hardened sap or something... no, I'm getting too caught up in the analogy. But it bears looking into.
trustycrowbar: (Kinda dorky.)

[personal profile] trustycrowbar 2012-03-24 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
But I've noticed that first impulses make a good starting point. I had no idea what the hell I was doing either, until I started looking up the molecular basis behind crystal formation for the sake of looking up anemoi coding. Now I've remembered everything from kinematics to quantum chromodynamics. [He grins.]

Name's Gordon, by the way.
trustycrowbar: (Totally within parameters)

[He nods a greeting, fidgeing with his glasses. Normally a speech pattern so clipped and quick is reserved for the the slightly pissed off, but this obviously isn't the case. If anything it sounds like the Salaarian is trying to get as much done in as little time as possible. He can respect that.]

Just to clarify, you mean a hypnotic state for yourself, right? Not someone else?

--Now that I think about it, any test with a control group would require two people at least.
trustycrowbar: (I wonder...)

[personal profile] trustycrowbar 2012-03-25 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a lot of variables to factor in. But then again, I'm not exactly a biologist, so I wouldn't really know. Hmh, just as long as you don't just grab someone off the street, I guess there's no harm...

[Says the man who has a documented history of kidnapping innocent appliances for use in his nefarious applied theory experiments.]
trustycrowbar: (You're kidding right?)

[personal profile] trustycrowbar 2012-03-26 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Just, err, making sure! Some might not think the same way.

[Amongst all his backpedaling he starts to wonder why he was so quick to bring up the notion himself...]
