*The park is a scene of chaos today! A man in a fox suit cackles madly! With... a lot of confused animals milling about.*

"TODAY! TODAY IS THE DAY THE ANIMALS REVOLT! Fear us, humans! I, The Red Fox, have come to liberate all of animal-kind from the oppressive forces of humanity! Soon, you shall face our wrath! Go, my animal companions!"

*Crickets.*

"You dare defy me?! I speak for the good of all of us! This is our shining moment! I -- whooooooa! Is that a female fox I see before me? You are a shining beacon of foxiness! What say you and I get together and go wild, eh? We can rule over these humans together!

Lady?"

*From pretty much everywhere in the park, you hear a sound that's something along the lines of "P-chyuuuun!"*

[ACTION; LATER]

*Ran sits on a picnic blanket, sipping tea peacefully. There's the smell of slightly charred fake fox fur coming from a man sitting rather sheepishly nearby, nursing a cup of tea.*

Now, see? Isn't it much better to act civil?

...Might I ask just what is going on here?

[He happened to be walking by.]

Oh, hello Ky! I was simply clearing things up with this man here. He was acting most untoward. He seems to be truly repentant now, though.

"To be honest, I... I'm not really sure why I'm here. ...Or charred."

He does seem to have rather blanked out on the incident.

Uh...this is only confusing me more.

I must say I find it all a little bewildering myself. He was ranting about leading the animals to glory or some such rot until I knocked a little sense back into his brain.

"I... I think that was a little stronger than a knock, ma'am."

Nonsense. Danmaku is perfectly safe. Well, relatively so anyway.

I...I'm sorry, what? Temporary insanity, is that what you're trying to say?

Seems that way. Is this a common problem with humans? I am afraid I do not remember that well.

...No, it isn't. Despite what court systems the world over will have you believe.

How curious. I wonder what could have sparked this man's condition then?

"I'd kinda like to know that myself..."

I honestly have no idea.

I see. I'm sure somebody will find an answer to the situation soon enough.

"Ma'am, I don't suppose you've got a spare set of clothing in that basket? ...or a blanket?"

Shen had happened upon the area more or while Ran was handing the Fox-guy a cup of tea. He smells the charred plastic fur and quickly puts it together.

"... Well, then. Seems you've got this well in hand," he observes.

So it seems. It's rather curious, however; I get the feeling he is not actually the instigator of this incident.

"No ma'am, it doesn't really sound like me. I mean, I love animals, just..."

Shen tilts his head to the side in a very birdish manner. "Hmm," he says. "There's been a positive rash of these lately, hasn't there?"

Has there? I must admit I have not been paying much attention to the news.

"So I've been hearing. Some fellow with office supplies... another with soda... I think there have been a few more, as well, but those are the ones that stand out in the memory."

Hmm! How most curious! Sir, do you know anything about this?

"O...only what I saw in the news, ma'am. ...and, uh, what I did, I guess..."

How peculiar! I do hope we get somebody to resolve this issue.

[He's used to the sight of Ran by now. Her new fur-suited companion, not so much. Gordon once again lopes to a halt in the middle of a jog, quietly staring. Ran, pleasantly sipping tea with a cowed man in a singed fox suit.]

[Somehow, he kind of figured a date with her would wind up with the guy in a state like that.]

Hey. M' not interrupting something, am I?

Not at all! We've just resolved our differences, as a matter of fact.

"I-if you wanna put it that way."

Care to join us for a cup of tea?

[It's more curiosity than tea that draws him to the blanket, sitting back a little clumsily the way taller humans tend to do.]

...Something happen?

[He gives a brief, pointed look to the guy in the faux fur.]

It seems this man was overcome by a strange desire to do bad things. He seems to be over it now.

"I don't even remember why I did it."

What was he--what were you actually doing? [He asks to first Ran then their confused companion.]

"Ranting about liberating animals or some such rot. Then he started being rather forward to me and I was forced to teach him some manners."

"I... I honestly don't remember any of that, ma'am."

Hmm, a convenient excuse, but I will overlook it in light of your obvious repentance.

[Okay, trying not to laugh. Trying not to laugh. This is him, trying very hard not to laugh.]

R-really now? D'you *snrk* do you remember anything before that, that may have caused it?

"Uh, not really. Oh! There was that person asking to take a survey! But that's not really anything weird, is it?"

A survey? Why would somebody go door to door taking a survey?

"It's not THAT unusual, ma'am..."

Except that it was the last thing you remember before blacking out. THAT'S pretty unusual if you ask me. Do you remember anything about this person? Anything at ALL.

"It was just some guy, man. I don't really pay attention to that sorta thing."

Pity, that.

[He lets out a quiet, disappointed sigh.]

Back to square one...

So it seems. I do hope you gain some success in resolving this incident.

[He looks over and gains a small smirk]

...You already guessed I was working on it, did you?

I'm afraid it was hardly a well-concealed secret.

I suppose I wasn't trying too hard to hide it either. Whenever I see a problem like this I have to come up with a solution. Call it a compulsion. The fact that it's helping people like this guy [gesturing to the almost-forgotten fox dude, hardly looking at him] is a bonus.

[Marona's just walking by when she notices the guy in the fox outfit.

...

Wait, what?]

Umm...

"You! You shall bear witness to the rise of a new era -- an era where animals RULE OVER ALL! BWA HA HA HA!"

*It's about this point that he notices Ran. Words are exchanged. Then hundreds of little magic bullets. ...okay, the last one is a bit one-sided, judging by the guy now lying on the ground smoking and twitching.*

Hmmph. What a cad.

...!

[Just. Kind of staring. WHAT JUST HAPPENED.]

I-is he okay-?!

Oh, Marona! Don't worry, he'll be fine. Danmaku is quite safe. Relatively speaking, anyway. I just gave him a bit of a thumping, is all.

A-ah... I... see?

[She's... so ridiculously confused. But let's address just one thing at a time.]

Umm... do I know you, miss?

Oh dear, I should have anticipated this. Do these look familiar?

*She wags her tails a bit.*

[She blinks a bit in confusion. It takes a bit for it to sink in.]
