Log: Refurbishing Work

Who: Ky Kiske and anyone who wants to help
What: Ky is refurbishing an abandoned building into a studio for practicing one's combat techniques and he needs help.
Where: An abandoned building in eastern Sirocco.
When: 12/15
Warnings: Expect some swearing, but nothing worse.

There are a lot of things to do. Holes in the roof need to be patched, walls need to be removed, floorboards need to be replaced, and so on. Feel free to assume work that needs to be done.

Additionally, should characters need a break from the heavy lifting and other manual labor, there's a table with sandwiches and cold drinks by the entrance.

During her self-exploration of the city, Shampoo had stumbled across a couple of flyers asking for help with repairs. While she wasn't really that excited for manual work, she kind of needed the money if she wanted to repair all the walls she accidentally walked through in her apartment. While a part of her knew it would have been a lot easier to call, she decided to wander through the city until she found the right building. At least she used the door for this place, a couple of the neighboring buildings have holes though their walls...

"Is any person here? Shampoo see flier asking for help and I give some help?"

Ky heard a voice and walked to the door, where he found an unfamiliar face. He was thrown off slightly by her unusual manner of speech, but being ever the polite gentleman, did not say anything about it.

"You want to help? Will you be able to do heavy lifting?"

A smile bloomed on her face as she clapped her hands under her chin. "Shampoo sure can. I is quite strong. What would you like me to do?"

"At the moment, I need some help installing drywall. The frames are up already, but I've done all I can alone."

"I no think I done this before but I try." With a few small hops to her step, she headed over to where the empty wooden frames stood. "Should Shampoo hold on to board while... ah. No get your name yet?"

"Oh, I'm Ky Kiske. I'm the one whose name is on the flyer." He walked over and motioned to a piece of drywall. "I'll need you to hold this while I secure it to the frame."

"I is Shampoo, nice to meet you." Without a fuss, she lifted the board up with both hands easily though she paused to adjust her hold on it. "Right here," she asked as she nodded to a section of the wall for confirmation.

So he had gathered, from the way she spoke. He didn't say that, though.

He looked on in mild surprise that she had such little trouble lifting the drywall. "Er...oh! Yes, right there." Ky immediately made himself busy to get the tools to set it in place.

"So why you fix this place up? Government no give you room in the apartments?"

"No, I don't intend to live here. I intend for this to be a place where people can practice their combat techniques."

"Combat! That what we fix here for? That is amazing! That must mean lots of strong fighters here. Then we need stronger walls than this when training. Shampoo already broke walls in place next door by accident when walking through."

She absently waved her free hand in the air but she was beaming at the idea of this place. A training ground where she could figure out her strengths and weaknesses that she could not remember.

"I take it lots of fighters in the city if you are do this? I know Shampoo's roommate isn't one for fight."

"Uh..."

Ky hadn't expected that direction to get her going. He tried to swallow everything he heard -- especially the bit about how she accidentally walked through some walls.

"Well, um. There are a lot of people trained for combat here, yes. And...and I already had the exterior walls reinforced. They should withstand the punishment that they'll likely receive.

"...I'm sorry, but I have to ask. How do you accidentally walk through walls?"

"So Ky must be good fighter if thought out the design so much. You must have train hard for long time."

"Shampoo simply no pay attention to surrounding. Was too busy looking down at phone." She answered with such a casualness that it felt more like she was commenting on the weather than her strange behavior.

"I...possess some skill, yes." That was an understatement if there ever was one. Few people in Ky's own world could rival him in terms of skill.

"...And yet you still managed to walk through solid walls. I just can't wrap my mind around that."

"Well, it not like Shampoo flew or change shape." Oh if only she remembered about that last part. "It seem normal to me."

"Walking through walls most definitely isn't normal. Most of the outer walls on the buildings here are made of brick or concrete. It takes the average person effort to merely lift bricks or blocks of concrete."

"Like Shampoo said, I very strong. Nothing like the average person. It not my fault other do no work to be strong like me."

"That's more than just plain strength. Not even professional bodybuilders could do something like that."

She simply shrugged, not particularly sure how to respond to that. "I no know anything about that. It Shampoo's body but I no can remember how I come so strong in first place." But somehow she felt good about herself, taking Ky's surprise and confusion as a kind of strange compliment.

"We move on to ceiling or floor next, yes?" She nodded her head at the drywall that still needed to be installed.

Well, there was nothing else to be said in response to that. "Oh, that's going to be used for walls. There are still some other places where drywall needs to go up."

She nodded, going silent as her body goes through the process of helping Ky out with the rest of the walls. Finally she responded.

"Can Shampoo take left over wall back to apartment? Even though she not friend, I should do good for my roommate and fix wall."

She nodded again, with more feeling this time.

"And now Shampoo know better to walk inside because building walls hard work. And all thanks to Ky!"

"Go right ahead. I'll have no use for whatever is left over." He nodded as if to reinforce his words.

Her next words gave him pause, though. "Er...you're welcome...?"

"Here and ready for work!"

Kaguya was the type to always announce herself in this sort of manner, so it shouldn't startle her "employer" too much, right? She's dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt just for the occasion though. After all, she can't get paint on her dress.

~~Who would work in a dress like that n-e-ways??~~

"What will you have me do first?"

Nope, it certainly didn't. He is somewhat surprised to see her wearing that kind of clothing, though. He had gotten too used to seeing her in a dress.

But, he got over it quickly enough.

"Oh! Good timing. I need some help laying floorboard. I hope you're ready to give your upper body a workout."

"Right~! Let's get this show on the road!" Kaguya pauses right after that statement. "Or in this case, let's get this board on the floor!"

Enthusiastic about her work at least, she'll practically skip over to where the stack was. Without any trouble at all, she'll begin piling them into her arms.

Kaguya's enthusiasm put a smile on Ky's face. With someone like her helping him, this task felt less daunting. He grabbed his toolbox.

"Er, you don't need to take all of them at once. I don't want you to get injured."
