[PRIVATE]

*Dreaming again...

The room's full of shelves. Whatever force had been responsible for laying out this place had stuck one of the keys up on top of one of the damn things, and he'd had to bring in a chair from another room to get it. Thankfully he'd already stepped off it when he'd heard the sound, or else the shock of it would probably have sent him tumbling off. He does bang his shin a bit though.

When he sees who it is, he feels foolish. Mika. Of course it had all been a setup. How could it have been anything otherwise? Giant blue monsters chasing them around, really? Could it be anything other than a practical joke the other three set up for him? And now Mika, who had supposedly been killed by the thing, was standing right over there. Unbelievable.

He straightens his glasses, and regains his composure. "I should have guessed. You guys wanted to give me a scare, right? It was a good effort, to be certain, but really, you guys went a little overboard with the cost...ume..."

He trails off, his eyes widening, his heart racing. Mika turns to look at him, but something feels wrong, something he can't put a finger on, something that keeps him from approaching her. Something that probably saves his life.

She stares at him with dead, impassive eyes.

And then what happens next shatters his hopeful illusion. Her form bulges and shifts, the skin shifting from a healthy pink to an all-too-familiar shade of blue. The clothes rip as her form grows larger and larger. And soon, there is no Mika; the only remnant of her human shell is the hair on her head, a disturbing reminder to all who see her of what she once was, looking all too wrong on that body. The body of the monster.

He flees.*

[PUBLIC; LIBRARY]

*He wakes up, panting.

In some respects, he'd been expecting this ever since he'd started remembering them. A sick feeling in his stomach, warning him that their fates had not been kind. Perhaps she'd been the only one -- but somehow, he doubts it.

The paper he'd been taking notes on is damp with sweat; he rips the sheet off, but feels too ill to keep studying for now. He goes to check out what he's got and heads out, still feeling off center; those who see him on the streets might notice he seems a little pale, even as he tries not to show much emotion.

In all honesty, it would've been better if it WERE just a dream.*

((OOC: 1% on the fate of Mika, version 6.23.))

. . . Nor do you have any. Is that all?

[identity profile] hystaria.livejournal.com 2011-12-21 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Something private? In a public place like this?

[identity profile] hystaria.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yet your particular answer would most likely have been the same even if it'd been in, ah, an alleyway or sorts.

[identity profile] hystaria.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Would I have?

Then again, the answer couldn't have been different if there's nothing private to share, now could it?

[identity profile] hystaria.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
. . . hm. For what reason do you keep things to yourself? A sense of secrecy? Not wanting to burden others with your problems? Things you've done that would ruin others' perception of you?

[identity profile] hystaria.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Did I say it was wrong? I was simply curious.

[identity profile] hystaria.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Did you just notice?

*He chuckles.*

I like to see honest reactions.

They're the most amusing ones.

And how exactly did you entertain me?

Heh. Cheeky boy . . .
