Most shikigamis aren't exactly living beings themselves. Really, machinery is just another method of conjuring a shikigami in the end; it's just one is more attached to science than the other.

Well, it looks complicated, but I believe it is rather simple. It does, however, seem to indicate that the more people who utilize the machine, the better. See, you put the berries in here like so...

And then you start up the machine, and every time that arrow points to a station, you have to press the button. Obviously it is very complicated to do so by yourself, but not IMPOSSIBLE. See...

*She starts it up -- and then, in a ridiculous display of manual dexterity and multilateral thinking, manages to hit ALL of the buttons as the spinner spins.*

And then eventually it stops, and you get, ah, this.

*She holds out the poffin. It looks quite tasty, actually!*

Not yet. I am still figuring out the controls. It really is amazing how humans have figured out how to make shikigamis without magic, though. Say what you will, but they can be quite ingenious when they wish to be!
