[They worked! Now Ruby can run super fast. Unfortunately, he forgot that he doesn't know how to make them stop. So he can be seen zipping through town, yelling his head off for someone to help him. Help, or be a hit-and-run victim?]

[Which causes Ruby to indeed fall from the trip, but as soon as he gets up the shoes cause him to take off again. So now he can't stop and he's covered in dirt.]

Well...I remembered that they did something special...But not what or how they turned on...Then I managed to get them to turn on, but started to run before I could figure out how to turn them off.

And I doubt that my shoes would fit any of my Pokemon's feet. Especially the ones that don't have any.
