Finally, an ending.
Who: Hiroshi, Palom, Gordon Freeman, Shampoo, Dave Strider, Rudy
What: The Finale of the Ao Oni Plot.
When: Shortly after Hiroshi runs off attempting to resolve the situation himself.
Where: A large, spooky mansion. Of course.
Notes: As of this log, all Onis are officially flushed out of Sirocco for good. Should someone feel like it, they may still on occasion appear in normal mission logs, but they are effectively no longer an issue in Sirocco itself.
It's going to end tonight.
No more deaths. No more corruptions. The Onis are there only because he had shown up in Sirocco. They are his responsibility, his curse. Nobody else needs to get involved. He'll stop this once and for all.
Of course, he has no intention of getting stuck in there with them. He's going to try his best to get out once the effect is started. But if he doesn't... well, isn't this how horror stories are supposed to end? Nobody really gets out alive. Sure, they might escape for a bit, but the horror always draws them back in at the end. He'll just be joining them -- Takeshi, Mika, Takuro. Like he should have before, in that horrible mansion.
THIS mansion has its share of lesser monsters, but they prove to be less than observant, and with some care Hiroshi is able to sneak past the majority of them. Occasionally there's hiding. But he manages, somehow. It's a long, nervewracking trip.
The room he finds himself in at the "lowest point" is not exactly reassuring -- something out of some cultist horror film, or something. But an appropriate ending for something involving a ritual, he supposes. He looks around a bit and nods, pulling out the Rod. Time to finish things.
He closes his eyes, steeling himself. The room is quiet -- wait, no it isn't.
He turns, recognizing the sound with a horrified start. Only one thing made that sound.
Onis. Lots of them. More than he has ever seen in one place at once, even in that cell in the basement of the mansion he had met them in first. How they had all gotten there without him knowing he doesn't know. Couldn't know. But they're there, and all staring at him.
He backs up in terror. No no no! He can't die now! Not before he's got the incantation started! If he does, if he fails everybody here, then what would it all be good for? This whole effort -- it'd be useless! Why did they have to come now, of all times? If he just had a few more minutes!
The Onis approach him with more deliberation than he's seen before, as if they've finally tracked down and cornered a much desired prey. Hiroshi's back is to the wall, holding the Rod in front of him feebly as a weapon. "S...stay back..." he stammers. He just needs a few more minutes. A few more...
And then the cavalry arrived.
