Autumnal Avocations

Who: Open to all!
What: Miscellaneous activities
When: Friday, 10/21
Where: Farmer Carol's farm.
How: ...Walking, running, skipping, or log-rolling are all acceptable.
Why: Because I want to.

As Palom had promised, the farm indeed boasted more wholesome family fun activities than you could shake an apple at.  While the main purpose of the day trip, ostensibly, was to finish up harvesting the fruit, the opportunity to explore the farm and its rural surroundings was enticing as well.  By mid-afternoon, Farmer Carol was fully satisfied with the hard work of the volunteers and announced that they were free to do as they pleased.

[You are free to post!]

See? It's just like I told you.

[Ky reaches for another marshmallow and holds it out in front of the fire.]

You know, thinking about it, it's strange. I can recognize the taste of a s'more, but I can't remember actually having one. I almost want to say, "It's been a long time since I've had one," but without my memories, I don't know that for certain.

Have you had any experiences like that here, if you don't mind my asking?

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm♪

[ She's in an excellent mood if she's practically singing her joy over it. Even when he starts to talk about something serious, it takes her a couple of minutes before her own mood evens out to the same level. ]

Sometimes. It just feels as though I know how to do certain things. Like with that strange looking sword I have.

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[That gets a look of surprise. Ky turns his head away from the fire and toward the girl sitting next to him.]

Strange-looking sword?

...Wait, is that the "it" you referred to on your first day here?

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-10-29 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it's "it"! What other "it" could I possibly reference? I'm not a pervert or anything like that.

[ What does that have to do with anything, Kaguya? ]

Yes, it's a pretty large sword. I can lift up easily but it's really about as big as me!

[ And there's plenty of her. ]

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-10-29 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
I...just wanted to make sure. That's all.

Really? It's as big as you are? If you can use that, that's impressive.

[It also feels a bit nostalgic to him. Of course, he doesn't know why.]

Is there a reason why you concealed it?

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, now you know. I don't know a thing about it, but it's pretty strange looking. It's covered in these thin half-circle blades and everything. I should show it to you sometime, shouldn't I?

Oh, I hid it because I didn't want to look hostile. There's a lot of people here that don't remember things and that's pretty frightening. If they see some of us are armed, they might be less willing to befriend those who are. I really just didn't want to lose out on any opportunities to become someone's pal.

Then again, I did lie about it. I guess I'm pretty dishonest and not worthy of being a friend, right?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
What? No, not at all! I don't mean to say that lying is a good thing, but it's something that nearly everybody does once in a while. Sometimes it's even a necessary deed, depending on circumstances.

We haven't known each other very long, but I can tell that you have multiple redeeming qualities. One lie isn't enough to negate them.

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I just didn't want anyone to have to worry about me being a fiend of some sort. Plus, what use is a weapon I can't remember how to use?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all right. I understand exactly where you're coming from, and I don't fault you for any of it.

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Well, you're pretty amazing to let me get away with a lie so easily. Don't let that trait become well known.

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Meanwhile, Ky himself is wondering why he's letting her off the hook so easily. After all, didn't the Lord command the people to not bear false witness against their neighbors? Though, this wasn't quite that severe...]

You had a justifiable reason, that's why. I would be less forgiving if that were not the case.

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-14 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ A lie is still a lie, mister. ]

Well, I wouldn't have a reason to tell a big lie. [ On that note: ] You wouldn't lie to me, right?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-14 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What? Uh...

[Rather than straight up answer the question, he tries to divert it.]

What...what brought this on?

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
We were talking about lies, weren't we?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, but in a general sense!

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
So is it really that wrong of me to ask?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Er...well, no, not in and of itself...

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Then why are you making such a big deal out of it?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-17 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's...typically not something that a person would just flat out ask somebody else. Your asking it caught me completely off-guard.

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't? Why wouldn't people want to know that though?

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh...

[Give Ky a moment to think this one over.]

Well, it's not that they wouldn't want to know. It's that such a question puts the person being asked in an awkward situation.

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is it awkward? If you mean to always tell me the truth, then you can just agree outright. Anyone who doesn't is only guilty of being dishonest.

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not easy for people to promise to avoid doing something as simple to do as tell a lie. That's why it makes them feel awkward.

[identity profile] kaboobya.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not? If someone wanted me to promise that, I would!

[identity profile] sacred-thunder.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
But would you be able to stick to your promise? That's what worries most people.
