1: [Action]
[Mr. Petrov, in some ways distinguished by the obvious reddish scar covering half of his face (although his long hair obscures some of it, making it much less obviously resemble a handprint) is out shopping, mainly for cosmetics. He has no memory of how, precisely, to select or use them, but they seem like the best and easiest way of concealing a scar, so he's determined to find the best product for the best value. He is on a budget. One can find him puzzling his way through cosmetics counters and beauty stores, for the most part avoiding the questions of salespeople, though now and then he turns to one to ask a pointed question of his own.

When he breaks for lunch, eating his sandwich in the park, he's weary, but he's had some success, as indicated by the small paper shopping bags at his side. For a moment, loneliness overtakes him, and he wonders if there's anyone at home he cares for. He would like to have someone to talk to. Instead, he feeds a few breadcrumbs to some birds that have gathered and remarks to them idly:] Best to be patient. I'll know sooner or later.

[Later, having dealt with his problem to the best of his ability, Mr. Petrov, his complexion with an artificial yet unscarred appearance, addresses the network for the first time.]

Good evening. I'd like to introduce myself to you, my fellow sufferers, if you'll forgive me for using the term. My name is Petrov. Other than that, I have absolutely no idea who I am, but for now, I believe I can safely say that it's a pleasure to meet you. If nothing else, I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this curious affliction.

[He gives a small smile.]

I hope you'll be kind enough to introduce yourselves in return. I'd very much like to learn more about you and your experiences since arriving. Thank you.
